No es facil para mi acertar con las motivaciones que un buen dia, alla por el ano 1977, me arrastraron a investigar y escribir sobre la imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe en Mexico. Si tuviera que decidirme por una, creo que elegiria la curiosidad. En uno de mis viajes por America lei la ''noticia'' del descubrimiento en los ojos de la imagen de la Senora de Guadalupe de una No es facil para mi acertar con las motivaciones que un buen dia, alla por el ano 1977, me arrastraron a investigar y escribir sobre la imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe en Mexico.

Si tuviera que decidirme por una, creo que elegiria la curiosidad. En uno de mis viajes por America lei la ''noticia'' del descubrimiento en los ojos de la imagen de la Senora de Guadalupe de una figura humana, para ser exactos, el hallazgo de un ''hombre con barba'' en el ojo derecho de la imagen que -de forma misteriosa- quedo impresa en la tilma o manta de un indio llamado Juan Diego el 12 de diciembre de 1531. Aquella ''noticia'' se me antojo tan descabellada y sensacional a un mismo tiempo que acepte el reto y me entregue por entero al esclarecimiento de aquel suceso.

Que habia de cierto en aquella ''noticia''? Â"Afortunadamente, mis investigaciones no comenzaron hasta 1981. Y digo ''afortunadamente'' porque entre los anos 1979 y 1980 otros cientificos realizaron desconcertantes hallazgos.

Smith y Callaban, utilizando peliculas infrarrojas, confirmaron que el rostro, manos, tunica y manto de la Virgen ''no eran pintura humana''. En esas mismas fechas, otro eminente cientifico, el profesor Aste Tonsmann, especialista en computadoras, daba a conocer otro hallazgo revolucionario: ademas del ya citado ''hombre con barba'' , en lo mas profundo de los ojos de la Virgen de Guadalupe, y mediante un sofisticado proceso de ''digitalizacion'' de imagenes, este ingeniero y profesor de la Universidad de Cornell (Nueva York) habia encontrado otras doce figuras. Â"Que significaba todo esto?

A quienes correspondian estas imagenes? Ante que nuevo reto se enfrentaba la ciencia? Durante meses me he entregado en cuerpo y alma a la investigacion de este singular misterio.

Â"He llevado a cabo tres nuevos viajes a America, interrogando a historiadores, antropologos, expertos en pintura y restauracion, especialistas de todo tipo en la civilizacion azteca, medicos cirujanos, oftalmologos y expertos en ordenadores. Han sido mas de un centenar las obras consultadas e incontables las horas de estudio y reflexion sobre este desconcertante asunto. Fruto de ello ha sido este primer trabajo -El misterio de Guadalupe-, escrito al margen de todo sentimiento religioso.

Benítez encompass literature and journalism, as well as UFO investigations.Primarily renowned as an investigator of the paranormal, Benítez garnered attention and criticism when he released Jerusalén, the first volume of a series named Caballo de Troya, related to the life and death of Jesus Christ.

He begun his journalist career in January 1966 in the newspaper La Verdad, after The works of J. J. Benítez encompass literature and journalism, as well as UFO investigations.Primarily renowned as an investigator of the paranormal, Benítez garnered attention and criticism when he released Jerusalén, the first volume of a series named Caballo de Troya, related to the life and death of Jesus Christ.

He begun his journalist career in January 1966 in the newspaper La Verdad, after receiving a journalism degree from the University of Navarra in 1965. He published his first books in 1975, Ovni: S.O.S a la Humanidad and Existió Otra Humanidad. During his three decades as an author, he has published more than 50 books, including investigative reports, essays, novels and poetry, and sold more than nine million copies worldwide.

As of May 2007, 7 million copies has been sold from the first 8 books of the Caballo de Troya series. He has also directed a TV documentary series called Planeta Encantado, in which he travels to 17 different countries in order to render his interpretation of some of the great unsolved mysteries of past history.
